In Environmental Science, we had a lab that tested if plants could remove pollutants in soil. This was connected to Ghana, as Ghana has one of the biggest e-waste landfills. In the lab, we were told by the "Ghana government" to come up with a way to easily remove the e-waste from Ghana soil. For my experiment, I took 3 different types of plants to see which one would remove the most pollutants in the soil.
Abstract: In Ghana, the huge amount of e-waste in the form of electronic products has become a major source of pollution in the soil, leading to problems. By using phytoremediation, plants can remove most if not all of the pollution in the soil in just 6 weeks or less.
