This a quartet for four flutes. The barbershop feel of the song was easy to implement into a quartet perfect for a flute's bright tone. Mr. Sandman is a popular song written by Pat Ballard. Although there have been many recordings and interpretations, the most famous and first recording was by The Chordettes in 1954. In the song, the girls are pleading to "Mr. Sandman", a fictional character thought to bring good dreams to people, to bring them their dream lover. The barbershop qualities of the song make it equally catchy and nostalgic, so much so that it has been referenced and covered in many pop culture since it was released.
